Making use of textures

Textures are a great way of adding a touch to your look. Be careful though, matching textures is even more demanding than proper color matching.  A good rule of thumb is to choose a smooth texture for the largest canvas, and use the rougher texture for the smaller area. The picture above is a good example.  I think her dress works absolutely great with the large, smooth overcoat. It does help also that this is an excellent example of color matching. All of the colors are bridged and blend nicely into each other.

Also, she’s made sure that the lining of the jacket has a color that enables her to turn the sleeves to give a funkier look.

Finally one more good example of texture matching, and the application of smooth textures on large areas, and rougher textures on the smaller areas.  As you can see, her friend has chosen a wild scarf texture, but it looks great with the otherwise smooth overcoat.  Her textured dress looks great peaking from under her coat.

They look so ladylike and confident.  Thumbs up! 🙂
